Digitally Fabricated Chairs
Pilot Study
Courses: 4.510(G)
Year: 2011
Machines: Laser Cutter & Techno CNC
Materials: Masonite & Plywood
For many years chairs are used to teach and develop students for digital fabrication machines, materials and methods of production. Students are required to design, prototype and manufacture a fully functional chair in 6 weeks using 3D Printers, laser cutters, and finally a CNC machine. The results and learning takes on a range of understandings from the fundamentals of structure to advanced methods. This workshop has been taught at TU Delft in addition to MIT.
