A surface model fabricated is illustrated as a design model built of many materials with a variety of connection types. This model was an assembly of components printed of plastic laser cut from thin sheets, shaped by hand over a mold after heating in an oven. Manual manufacturing techniques were used to build the molds and shape the glass surface. The resulting assembly lacked the quality of curvature and assembly we expected. The physical artifact varied greatly from the original CAD surface model (mold). We determined that manual manipulations of the plastic surfaces and molds resulted in many errors or discrepancies between the CAD surface and resulting molded surface.
